When normal people have some disposal income they normally go out to eat, or buy some new shoes.  I buy sweet domain names.

After watching the UCF v USF football game how can anyone say that the schools shouldn’t pursue this rivalry?  Discuss in the comments.

Ugh – I need a secretary

So, I have two tests this week. One today on Tuesday and one on Thursday. I just spent the last two days studying for my Thursday exam by mistake. Rad.

Well, I’m off to the library to cram 2 chapters in my brain before 4pm. Wish me luck.

B.H.O. Blasphemy on Display

There hasn’t been much talk recently about anything going on at UCF, but today while I was on campus I did something I haven’t done in quite some time. I picked up a UCF Future (the campus newspaper), and what would I expect to find on the front page but pretty much the same thing as every other newspaper in the U.S., one of the largest Barack H. Obama photos I’ve ever seen, right there above the fold, front page.

The fact the Future is obviously backing Barack Obama does not bother me, in fact I’m pretty sure most college newspapers are probably on his bandwagon thanks to the enormous amount college educated idiots who are likely to vote for him. In fact one of those idiots, associate professor of political science at UCF, Martin Dupuis, admitted in the same edition of the Future that he himself jumped on Obama’s bandwagon a long time ago after hearing him speak while running for the U.S. Senate seat from Illinois. Mr. Dupuis even went so far as to decide after hearing Obama orate (as Mr. Dupuis likes to call what Obama does when he talks) that he should write a book about Barack because he will be such a great politician because of his ability for oratory.

Guess what, I agree Barack is a great orator, one the likes I’ve never seen before, but how in the world does that make you fit to be president. I’ve always been told one of Adolph Hitler’s greatest attributes was his oration skill. I mean who could deny it he brought huge crowds to wild frenzies with his words, Barack may even be better, he can do it with one – CHANGE. Don’t get me wrong I’m not saying Barack is Hitler in any way, shape, or form, but I am trying to make a point; talking a good game doesn’t make you right!

Now, I am fairly certain spouting speeches and going before world summits to give lectures would be something B.H.O. may have to do if he is elected President of the United States and thankfully Barack can orate an argument. The only problem I have with B.H.O is his oratory is either baseless or senseless. Oratory of that kind is usually not classified as oratory at all, but more likely rhetoric, of the grandiloquent kind.

In Kissimmee, FL the other day B.H.O. met before about 1,000 people to discuss some of the issues he felt important in this election. During his time there his oratory skills were on display, he used them to champion education reform which he amounts to hiring more teachers, and allowing young people to pay for college if they commit to teaching in troubled schools.

Well Barack, I’ve been through the public school system more recently then you as a student and I think you’ve got it wrong. Kids in troubled areas don’t need young inexperienced teachers who are getting their feet wet. These kids need veteran teachers who have fought battle after battle to connect with every kind of student. Now, I do agree we need more teachers, but the key is they have to be better than the teachers we are producing now! It doesn’t matter where they come from they just have to be better. I could tell Barack where to find them (psst – private sector), but you think he’d listen to me.

The other issue Barack took on in Kissimmee was poverty. He talked about putting money back in the pockets of middle-class Americans although he did not mention how he’d do that without costing some Americans their jobs because of his tax increases on corporations and the wealthy – which provide jobs for pretty much all of us. But worry not, for in Kissimmee Barack also assured all of us one thing, “We will make sure you [Americans] aren’t living in poverty.”

Now I assume the “we” he is talking about is the government once he is in power. I’ve been waiting for this quote since the beginning of his campaign. If this quote doesn’t scream socialism at the top it lungs, I’ve got to begin to wonder if Americans and their media have gone completely deaf. I’d hope in the U.S. I don’t have to explain the infinite reasons why socialism doesn’t work, but I know there are still some people out there who lack the capacity to reason logically. I’m sorry but those who fit that category, I cannot help.

For the others who can reason there are ways to see through Obama’s rhetoric. To be informed we surf the internet, read a newspaper, or even observe the world around us for ourselves. But we must be diligent in our efforts to find the facts. In the era of information this means you can’t take anything you hear for granted. Every study out there it seems is paid for by someone, which makes it hard, but it’s the world we live in today.

Forming an opinion about a political issue should be the sole responsibility of any individual person. There is no need to listen to any politician tell you what is wrong about an education system your own kids are in, or a manufacturing job market that person has never been a part of. You live it, you know it.

All I’m asking is for American politicians to end the rhetoric (especially you, B.H.O.). Start giving us solutions that make sense, that we can afford, and above all else that protect our freedoms.

I Say Goodbye, You say Hello…..Hello, Hello…

Over the last few months I have taken some heat for my choice of “The Sixf Man” as my pen name. It was never an official title given to me, but one that I felt I earned. However, so many great people feel such an attachment to the domicile known as “the ranch,” I felt it was greedy to label myself as the greatest of the unofficial roomates.

That’s why, from now on, I will use the pseudonym Don Swanzey for all future postings. My bio will shortly be re-written and my posts will take on a distinctly different feel. As the bloggers at hectorhector.com continue to discover their voices, expect big things.

Ron Paul invades UCF

A new semester at UCF begins again! It seems that the crew here at hectorhector.com took a short hiatus during the summer but now that we are all back in school I am happy to say that you can expect frequent updates (from me at least =) )

So, how was my first day of classes at beautiful UCF? Completely routine except for the fact that UCF has been hit by the political hurricane that is Ron Paul. As i drove up University Blvd monday morning I was amused by the Ron Paul signs that were placed along both sides of the street with phrases like “Who is Ron Paul?” and “Google Ron Paul” i thought it would end there but it would not be so. I spotted Ron Paul stickers on the exit signs in the parking garages, on one of the yellow poles behind the library in front of the computer lab, on a soda machine outside Coulbourne Hall, and pretty much everywhere else. Who is to blame for this sticker attack? A search of the UCF website for Ron Paul revealed no official organization that supported his campaign for president (though it did turn up this interesting web page that seems to be completely written in japanese save for a couple phrases in english including ron paul.) We may never know who was behind the Ron Paul advertisements (perhaps the ucf college republicans?) but who cares?  I, like pretty much everyone else in the blogosphere, think Ron Paul is sweet and if this recent bombardment at our college raises awareness for the the issues he is campaigning for I think it was more that worth it.
